Friday night the Urge played to a sold out crowd for their annual holiday show.

For as far back as I can remember either over Thanksgiving or Christmas The Urge would have a concert, except over the handful of years that they were disband. I remember leaving family members houses early to catch some of these shows.

Shortly after Funky Butt Brass Band left the stage you could already hear pockets of people in the crowd start chanting ‘Play that Mother Fucking Urge Shit’ and shortly before the band took the stage Donny Fandango from 105.7 The Point came out the Jeff Burton tribute event coming up on December 6th and then getting the whole crowd to start chanting PTMFUS.

One song was noticeably missing from the set list tonight and that was the cover of ‘One Love’ by Bob Marley and the Wailers that I believe I have heard at almost every Urge show I have been to. What we did get though was a kick ass cover of Peter Gabriel’s ‘Sledgehammer’ accompanied by members of Funky Butt Brass Band. The night was closed down with a cover of The Brand New Heavies “It’s Getting Hectic’ and the fan favorite “Open All Night” also know as Going to the Liquor Store.
