Wednesday night at The Pageant Alkaline Trio and War On Women stuck by the old adage ‘The Show Must Go On’ after coheadliners Bad Religion had to pull out of a couple shows due to Covid exposure within their touring entourage.

First up was feminist, hardcore punk band from Baltimore, Maryland War On Women fronted by singer Shawna Potter who like Kathleen Hanna before her tackle sexism, harassment, and misogyny in their music. After the fourth song Potter asked where the photographers had went saying they could come back as we only needed ears to listen to them. Wednesday night also happened to be basset Suzanne Werner’s birthday and Potter asked the crowd to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to her.

Alkaline Trio kicked things off with ‘Privet Eye’ off of 2001’s ‘From Here to Infirmary’ and played a set spanning their 15 year carrier. During the encore the band covered the Bad Religion song ‘Do What You Want’ in tribute to the band for not being able to play tonight.
