Tuesday night Taylor Swift brought her Reputation Tour to The Dome at America’s Center.
British singer/songwriter Charli XCX kicked things off. She opened her set with ‘Boom Clap’ off of her 2014 album ‘Sucker’. She followed that up with a cover of Swedish DJ duo Icona Pop’s ‘I Love It’ (The song was originally written by Charli XCX). The rest of the set concisted of ‘Break the Rules’, ‘Unlock It’, ‘Boys’, 5 in the Morning’ and a cover of Iggy Azalea’s ‘Fancy’ closed her set out. Earlier in the day she did a meet and greet at Vintage Vinyl in the Delmar Loop.
Camila Cabello kept things moving ash she took the stage and opened with her second single ‘Never Be the Same’ off her debut studio album ‘Camila’. The former Fifth Harmony member The former Fifth Harmony member pulled out a couple nonalbum songs such as ‘Bad Things’, A song that she does with Machine Gun Kell, and a cover of Elvis Presley’s ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’.
Before Swift came out the large video screens showed various videos. Some were behind the scenes clips of the making of ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ and ‘…Ready For It?’ ‘…Ready For It?’ to me looks like a mash up of Tron, Blade Runner, and ghost in the Shell. Other videos were of meet and greets at her house and listening parties that she has held. She has always been very generous and grateful to her fans
The minute the lights went out The Dome erupted in a defining applause and screams from fans. The two massive screens slowly parted and Taylor Swift standing on a platform like she was being rolled of an assembly line bathed in bright white lights and smoke wearing an outfit that looked similar to the one in the video for ‘…Ready For It?’. The lights went red and she started ‘…Ready for It?’. During her second song ‘I Did Something Bad’ during the chorus of the song pyrotechnics go off at an increasing rate as the song nears its end. The production of this tour is just insane. I had a chance to see her on her 1989 tour and the Reputation tour just blows it away. Fans were given LED bracelets as they arrived and are color synced to the music via RF lights. Throughout the night Swift tells her fans (Swifties) that she wouldn’t be here without their support throughout the years. Snakes where also a big theme for the night with gigantic snakes and even a V.I.P. area called the Snake Pit. Even her fans added to the night as they came dressed in various costumes, holding signs, and of course the number 13 was everywhere with the fans. All in all even if you’re not a huge fan of Taylor Swift you should definitely check out one of her shows as you will not be disappointed.
