When one thinks of the band Primus you think of things like ‘My Name is Mud’, ‘Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver’ the theme South Park and not basing an entire tour around covering ‘A Farewell to Kings’ by Rush from front to back but that’s just what the eccentric mind of Les Claypool decided to do with the A Tribute to Kings tour. The tour was supposed to have taken place in 2020 but with the Covid pandemic bringing all live music to a halt it was postponed. Kicking things off with ’Those Damned Blue-Collar Tweekers’ off of 1991’s ‘Sailing the Seas of Cheese’ and ending things with ‘Jerry Was a Race Car Driver’ from the same album before taking a break. Once the break was over the band came back and played ‘A Farewell to Kings’ from start to finish. To finish up the night the band came back and played a three song encore with ‘Too Many Puppies’, ‘Sgt. Baker’, ‘Southbound Pachyderm’.
