Friday night Grammy Award nominated Highly Suspect played a sold out show at The Pageant. With this show the band pulled off the “Delmar Trifecta” having sold out the Duck Room, Delmar Hall, and now The Pageant. The band is on tour in support of their critically acclaimed sophomore album, Boy Who Died Wolf.
I showed up early for the show and the line at both doors was insane. I grabbed my pass and ticket and talked to fellow photographers for a bit and ended up entering at the Halo Bar to help cut down on the wait.
DJ Redbees set the mood for the night doing a DJ set before each band.
Slothrust kicked things off for the night. The band is known for their sludgy blues infused grunge sound. The Brooklyn based band formed from from the ashes of front woman Leah Wallbaum’s former solo act Slothbox.
Highly Suspect came out warring St. Louis Blues jerseys with many fans chanting Lets Go Blues . The band opened the night with a cover of Real Life’s 1983 hit Send Me Angel. I have now had this song stuck in my head for the past few days. Happens every time I see the scene in the movie Teen Wolf Too where Jason Bateman’s character decides he is going to do a cram session for one of his classes in classic 80’s style montage. Highlights for the night were Lydia, Bath Salts, and My Name Is Human.
Got something to say? Go for it!
