Thursday night fans were treated to three rising-star songwriters solo sets and an encore from their super group boygenius.

When Lucy Dacus took the stage she politely asked the crowd not to film her first song of the night as it was a new song called ‘Thumbs’. She then brought out her full band for the remander of her set. Her seven song set consisted mostly of songs from her 2018 sophomore album ‘Historian’.

Phoebe Bridgers came out on stage to a very somber lit stage that fits well with her music. She said that she was not sure if she would be able to keep it together after hearing ‘Thumbs’ by Lucy Dacus. Her set opens with ‘Smoke Signals’, a song she wrote about her ex-boyfriend Ryan Adams. She continues her set with ‘Funeral’ and ‘Would You Rather’, a duet she recorded with Conor Oberst. Even though her songs are mostly sad, chilling, and tender Bridgers as she tells the fans “My voice is a little tender, more so tonight than normal as I threw it out singing ‘My Chemical Romance’ and ‘Wake Up’ by Hillary Duff at karaoke. If you ever need to change your mood just listen to ‘Wake Up’ by Hillary Duff. Bridgers played a cover of Gillian Welch’s ‘Everything Is Free’ and said it was the ultimate song dedicated to streaming.

Julien Baker walks out on stage alone with no backing band. She uses loop peddles to help get the layers for her songs without relying on a backing band with the exception of violinist Camille Faulkner on the occasional song. The twenty-three year old Baker is known for her songs as they connect with people (especially live).
