Monday night pioneering industrial band KMFDM played a blistering show at Delmar Hall.

KMFDM (Kein Mehrheit Für Die Mitleid, loosely “no pity for the majority”) is an industrial band fronted by German multi-instrumentalist Sascha Konietzko, who founded the group in 1984 as a performance art project.

When I first arrived at Delmar Hall it looked like it might be a small crowd. ohGr, an industrial band formed by Nivek Ogre and Mark Walk of Skinny Puppy, opened the night. I was unfamiliar of them but for some reason a few songs seemed familiar.

By the time KMFDM came on stage the dance floor was practically full. Both Sascha Konietzko and Lucia Cifarelli (who have been married since 2005) are front and center behind podiums. Lucia steps away from her podium from time to time and brings a lot of energy while she dances and strikes poses. Even though the set list consisted heavily of new songs off of ‘Hell Yeah’ it did contain a good number of songs that spanned their 30 plus year career. If you wanted to hear ‘Juke Joint Jezebel’ though you were out of luck as the band has not played it live since 2003.
