Saturday night fans braved record heat to see the Violent Femmes and Echo and the Bunnymen at Hollywood Casino Amphitheater. Despite the day’s record-setting 108-degree temperature the Violent Femmes trudge through a seventeen song set spanning their thirty-seven  year carrier.

The band is touring in support of their first album in over fifteen years ‘We Can Do Anything’. The band started off with ‘Prove My Love’ off their 1983 debut ‘Violent Femmes’. During ‘Blister in the Sun’ you could see fans scurrying back to their seats from  using the rest room, grabbing beer, or trying to stay cool by listening from outside of the bowl of the amphitheater. Around two thirds through the set the Femmes brought out local musician Pokey Lafarge for the performance of “Good Feelings”. The band closed their set with ‘Add It Up’

Echo and the Bunnymen did not fair as well in the heat as the Femmes. Front man Ian McCulloch in his trademark trench coat had to exit for five minutes to use an oxygen mask about halfway into the set.
