Monday night Jack’s Mannequin brought their MFEO Tour to a sold out Pageant. The tour celebrates the bands twenty year carrier but also front man Andrew McMahon being cancer free for almost twenty years. This tour $1 per ticket goes towards The Dear Jack Foundation, which provides impactful programming that directly benefits adolescents and young adults diagnosed with cancer in order to improve their quality of life and create positive health outcomes from treatment to survivorship for patients and their families.

Jack’s Mannequin was set to go on stage at 9:00PM after an amazing set by the multi-instrumentalist, dancer, and visual artist from New York Yoke Lore. Shortly after 9:00 you could hear a lone fan yelling out ‘We Are ready’ a handful of times before the lights finally dimmed and a video and photograph montage showed up on the screens at the back of the stage with an audio recording of front man Andrew McMahon talking about the highs and lows during the formation of the band, being diagnosed with leukemia, and the recording of ‘Everything in Transit‘. As the band took the stage the crowd erupted with applause as the band kicked into ‘The Resolution‘ off 2008’s The Glass Passenger. I remember seeing Jack’s Mannequin back in 2011 on Vans Warped tour and fourteen years later McMahon and company still have the same high energy performance, the only thing showing a little ware is his Baldwin piano. During the second song of the night ‘The Mixed Tape‘ McMahon abandoned his piano briefly and jumped on top of it to sing. People not familiar with a live Jack’s Mannequin show might find it odd but for fans of the band and McMahon this is a normal thing. During the song ‘Kill the Messenger’ the band played a snippet of ‘Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic‘ by The Police. Over the course of the nights twenty-one song set the band played the entirety of their debut album ‘Everything in Transit‘. The set ended with the epic eight minute song ‘MFEO: Pt. 1 – Made for Each Other / Pt. 2 – You Can Breathe‘ but the band came back for a two song encore of ‘Last Straw, AZ‘ and ‘Dark Blue‘. The night was full of fans young and old, new and old, singing along for one amazing show.
