Tuesday night Canadian indie rock band Tokyo Police Club (TPC) stopped in St. Louis for the last time as the band is out on their farewell tour. TPC has been around for nearly twenty years and has put out five studio albums and a several EPs but will call it quits after a thirty-One day tour will end with four sold-out shows at History in Toronto from November 26th-29th. The band formed in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada in 2005 and consists of vocalist and bassist Dave Monks, keyboardist Graham Wright, guitarist Josh Hook, and drummer Greg Alsop.
The band kicked things off with ‘Favourite Food‘, the opening track off the bands 2010 sophomore album Champ followed up with ‘Favourite Colour’, ‘Breakneck Speed‘, and ‘Wait Up (Boots of Danger)‘ in album order. Monks and the band had playful stage banter throughout the night. He asked Wright what his favorite memory of St. Louis was and he said playing here tonight. The twenty five song set was filled heavy on songs from both Elephant Shell and Champ with eight songs off of each album. Monks even did a couple songs solo and acoustic, ‘The Harrowing Adventures Of…‘ and ‘Ready to Win‘. The band closed the night with two of my favorite songs ‘Cheer it On‘ off 2006’s A Lesson In Crime and ‘Your English Is Good‘ off 2008’s Elephant Shell.
Hollerado front man Menno Versteeg opened the show.
