Saturday night The Struts brought their ‘Pretty Vicious Tour’ to The Factory in Chesterfield, MO. This is the second leg of their North American tour and the 4th stop on the 28 show tour.

Opening the night was English singer, songwriter, and musician Barns Courtney. Courtney kicked things off with ‘National Treasure‘ off his recently released album Supernatural. The 10 song, 40 minute set was high energy with Courtney swinging his microphone around and sliding on stage, you could tell both the crowd and Courtney were enjoying themselves. Courtney closed the night with ‘Fire‘ a song that was used in the Bradley Cooper movie Burnt and enabled Courtney to quit his job after signing a deal with Virgin Records.

This was my fourth time seeing The Struts and they never fail to put on a phenomenal show. The night got kicked off with ‘Roll Up‘ off their debut album ‘Everybody Wants‘. The Struts charismatic front man Luke Spiller knows how to command the stage and kept the crowd engaged the entire night. Spiller dedicated their new song ‘Heavens Got Nothing On You‘, to the crowd. The band normally has a few songs that they play acoustically but tonight’s set only had ‘Marry Go Round‘ with just guitarist Adam Slack. Spiller had the lights turned off during the song and had the crowd pull out their phones to light the place up. Spiller teased the audience a bit by singing a little bit of ‘Put Your Money On Me’ and told the crowd that it was their last chance to dance before kicking into ‘Put Your Money On Me’, the last song of the main set. During the song Spiller told the crowed that they were going to break it down and introduced the band. On bass guitar Jed Elliott, on guitar Adam Slack, and the man in the seat that that keeps the beat and moves your American feet Gethin Davies on Drums. He then had a little competition between bassist Elliott and guitarist Slack sides of the stage by having the crowd cheer. Spiller said he thinks Jed’s side is winning and then told the crowd that he needed to hear it a bit closer and told the crowd to part like the Red Sea and came down into the crowd and had the crowd sing back what he would sing before jumping back on stage and finishing the song. It didn’t take long for the band to come back out and do a three song encore of ‘Pretty Vicious’, ‘One Night Only’, and ‘Could Have Been Me‘.
